Helen Farrall (née Eatock) is a screenwriter and storyliner. To date she has written over 30 hours of television, storylined many more and been involved in developing new series ideas.
Her credits include Doctors, Emmerdale, Crossroads, Bad Girls, Byker Grove, Grange Hill, Jeopardy and Children’s Ward. Helen has also written film scripts and pieces for regional and community theatre. In 1996 she was a runner-up in the BAFTA Carl Foreman Awards.
Helen has most recently branched out into transmedia projects. She wrote for Cover Girl and was the lead writer and creator of the award-winning Smokescreen, both for Channel 4 Learning.

Helen has worked as a scriptwriting tutor, script-reader and consultant since 1992. Her teaching spans every level from vocational courses to Master of Arts degrees and she has worked at institutions such as Cornerhouse, Contact Theatre, the University of Bolton, the University of Salford and Liverpool John Moores University. She has advised national television companies and local writers’ circles, and run workshops for higher education colleges, councils and schools.
From 2007 to 2009 Helen was the Royal Literary Fund Fellow for the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).

Helen was born on the Wirral and graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 1992 with a BA (Hons) in Film and Television Production. She lives in Manchester with her husband, their daughter, and their two cats.
